🧘♂️ Empowerment Through Wellness: WBDO Launches Free Self-Defence & Yoga Training for PWDs
In a powerful step towards physical empowerment and holistic development, the West Bengal Disability Organization (WBDO) is proud to announce its newest initiative — free training in Self-Defence and Yoga for persons with disabilities (PWDs), led by our newly appointed President, Mr. Imtaz Khan.
🌟 A Vision in Action
Since July 2025, Mr. Khan has personally been conducting regular Yoga and Self-Defence classes across multiple sessions, ensuring accessibility and inclusiveness for every member. His leadership marks a fresh and energetic direction for WBDO, where wellness and safety are seen as fundamental rights of every specially-abled individual.
🧘 Why Yoga & Self-Defence?
These sessions are designed not just for physical benefit, but also to:
-
Improve flexibility, strength, and body awareness
-
Build confidence and independence among PWDs
-
Equip them with practical self-defence techniques
-
Promote mental peace and emotional stability
Mr. Khan's unique approach combines discipline with compassion, turning each session into a space for community bonding and personal growth.
📈 Impact So Far
Within just two months of implementation (July–August), WBDO witnessed a drastic rise in member engagement. Participants began showing visible improvements in physical health, self-confidence, and social interaction. Many members have called this training a “turning point” in their journey with WBDO.
👣 What’s Next?
This project is now being expanded to:
-
Host weekly training schedules across districts
-
Offer online classes for remote participants
-
Collaborate with local trainers and physiotherapists for advanced support
-
Integrate meditation and stress-relief activities
💬 A Message from President Imtaz Khan:
“Physical well-being is not a luxury — it is a necessity. I want every member of our organization to feel strong, safe, and capable. Yoga and self-defence are tools for both inner and outer empowerment.”
