Highlight of the Main Event by West Bengal Disability Organization (WBDO)

To mark the 77th anniversary of India’s Independence, the West Bengal Disability Organization (WBDO) organized a social and cultural event at Sealdah, Kolkata, with a focused message: raising awareness about the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The event saw active participation from around 100 WBDO members, all united by a shared mission — to promote dignity, inclusion, and empowerment for the PWD community.

Key highlights included:

  • A series of interviews by journalists, who engaged with WBDO members to shed light on the real-life struggles and systemic challenges faced by PWDs in society.

  • Cultural performances including songs, dances, poetry recitations, and speeches, delivered with devotion and passion, conveyed strong messages of unity, resilience, and national pride.

  • The program served as a platform for advocacy, emphasizing the need for greater awareness, legal enforcement, and social acceptance of PWD rights.

More than just a celebration, this Independence Day event was a symbolic movement — echoing the voices of those often unheard and strengthening the collective fight for an inclusive and equitable India
